Go Longhorns!!

What a game! I don't even watch football but when your home town makes it to the superbowl of college ball its exciting. My son hopes to play for UT so I thought that made it more exciting!

Tower lights mark victory at Rose Bowl

The Tower at The University of Texas at Austin will be lighted entirely orange with the #1 displayed tonight (Thursday, Jan. 5) to celebrate the Texas Longhorns’ national championship victory at the 92nd Rose Bowl game in Pasadena, Calif.

The Tower will remain orange with the #1 displayed throughout the weekend.

The Longhorns clinched the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) title with a 41-38 win over the University of Southern California (USC). Texas completed a perfect 13-0 season, the most wins in school history. The Longhorns were a unanimous No. 1 in the final Associated Press Top 25 ranking. The victory marks the university’s fourth national title and its first since 1970.

Texas quarterback Vince Young ran for 200 yards and passed for 267 more, capping a performance that Texas fans will remember forever by scoring his third touchdown with 19 seconds left and running for a two-point conversion to secure the victory. At the trophy presentation after the historic contest, Young was named the game’s most valuable offensive player.

The Texas victory ended USC’s 34-game winning streak and gives the Longhorns a 20-game streak, now the longest in the nation.

This is the Longhorns’ second consecutive BCS appearance and victory at the Rose Bowl.
